S355MC Steel Strip — EN 10149-2 Thermomechanically Rolled, Cold-Forming Grade
S355MC (material no. 1.0976) is a micro-alloyed HSLA steel strip designed for cold bending and roll forming, with a minimum yield strength of 355 MPa and guaranteed bendability at 0.5–1 × thickness. We supply it as precision-slit coil, with stress-relieved annealing available for slit strip or formed parts requiring dimensional stability.

Technical Q&A
Q1: Can S355MC be heat treated?
S355MC is supplied in the thermomechanically rolled (TMCP) condition; its strength comes from controlled rolling and micro-alloying, not from subsequent heat treatment. However, stress-relief annealing after slitting or cold forming is a common value-added process to reduce internal stress and stabilize dimensions. We offer this service while maintaining mechanical properties within EN 10149-2.
Q2: S355MC vs S355J2 — which should I choose for strip?
Both grades have a 355 MPa minimum yield strength, but they serve different purposes. S355J2 is a welded structural steel plate suited to welding and low-temperature toughness applications. S355MC has lower carbon content (≤0.12%) and is specifically designed for cold bending and roll forming, with a minimum bend radius of 0.5–1 × thickness without cracking. For trailer chassis, truck longitudinal beams, and roll-formed profiles, choose S355MC.
Q3: What is the equivalent of S355MC?
Equivalent grades include the former German grade QStE380TM, ASTM A1011 HSLAS Gr.50, JIS SPFH540, and GB/T Q355(TM). SSAB's corresponding grades are Strenx 355MC / Domex 355MC.
Q4: Do you offer slitting and edge conditioning?
Yes. We supply slit strip from S355MC hot-rolled pickled coil, with controlled width tolerance and either rounded or mill edges. For customers who will cold bend the strip, we can provide stress-relief annealing after slitting.
Q5: What certifications are available?
EN 10204 3.1 mill certificates are standard. Third-party inspection (SGS, BV, TÜV) is available on request.
Our Strip Processing Capabilities
Unlike flat-product traders, we process strip in-house. For S355MC coils we offer:
Precision slitting to customer-specified widths, with burr control
Edge conditioning (rounded or deburred edges) for safer cold bending
Stress-relief annealing for slit strip or formed parts requiring dimensional stability
Coil weight customization (6–20 t) and sea-worthy export packaging
